About

Psychology is my life’s work.  I feel very privileged to hear people’s stories and help them find increased personal balance and healthier relationships.

I use a variety of therapeutic modalities in my practice. My training emphasized understanding how each person’s childhood and family background shaped who they are today. I often use cognitive behavioral interventions to provide specific tools for change. My approach is individualized and practical. I want my clients to have a clearer understanding of what is troubling them as well as guidance in making changes.

I did my undergraduate work at Oberlin College in Ohio, majoring in psychology.   I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The George Washington University in Washington D.C.   I have been a licensed Clinical Psychologist for more than 25 years.

For many years I served as Professional Advisor to People Reaching Out, a community based organization dedicated to drug abuse prevention in young people.

I also served as Oral Examiner for the Board of Psychology, which licenses psychologists in California.

Personally, my husband and I have raised two sons into young adulthood. We enjoy family time with them as well as the freedom of a (mostly) empty nest. My family has added a depth of perspective and sense of humor to my practice.
